Over the course of a week my friends and I made many excursions into the countryside near Grenoble. We ventured into the Alps and saw a lot of snow and ski resorts. The Chartreuse side of the valley was populated with smallfarms and communities, living the simple life with a great view. We found adventure, peace, and quaint timelessness. A trek to the base of a waterfall occupied the better of one day. Another day found us wandering through back roads, getting out of the car often to take in the fresh mountain air and take a picture or three. A remote and quiet church became the subject of my attention on one of our restful sidetracks.
